Island Village is Jamaica’s first playland, designed to reflect the sensibility of a small coastal community. Located on the Ocho Rios waterfront adjacent to the Cruise Ship Pier, the Village features an array of options for visitors, from entertainment, to dining and shopping.
Don’t miss Reggae Xplosion, the interactive multimedia museum of Jamaican music, displaying the history of folk, afro-Cuban and R&B, calypso, ska, and reggae. Witness reggae, through photos, audio clips and DVD video. Understand Bob Marley’s importance. Entertainment also includes concerts/ shows on the Island Village Stage, water slides at Margaritaville and kayaks at Beach World.
Refreshments target every taste. For a cheeseburger in paradise, Margaritaville is the place. Blue Runnings serves roasted Blue Mountain Coffee and jerk. Jose’s Bar overlooks the stage, making it a watering-hole for stars and star-gazers. Devon House’s I Scream flavors its ice creams with local fruits.
Many specialty shops are in the village. To find tropical dresses, shirts, swimsuits and accessories, check out Cool Gear, Hemp Heaven and Tropic Lines. For books and CDs, browse Bookland and Reggae Yard. Caribbean arts, crafts, ceramics and crystals can be found at Amethyst, Carouches or Tallawah Arts. Stock up on souvenirs at Cool Beach 2 and Island Leisure. For incense, candles, herbs and spices, visit Herba Kadabra or Starfish Oils. Beach Braids does hair cutting, braiding and nails.
