Sights & Attractions

Tours and attractions in Ocho Rios run the gamut from traditional to new, really funky activities.

They say this is the place “where heaven spills into the sea” and visitors who climb the 600-foot Dunn’s River Falls may think they’ve reached the pearly gates. Visitors soon discover why this is Jamaica’s most popular attraction.

At Dolphin Cove, smart, athletic, 600-pound mammals can be found. Small groups get to pet, swim with, even get launched out of the water by these powerful, but friendly creatures. The location is also home to Treasure Reef where visitors swim with stingrays, see sharks and seek treasure.

Marvel at spectacular views in modern-day Gardens of Eden, like those at Shaw Park Botanical Gardens which exhibit a fascinating variety of the area’s exotic flora, for which the town is celebrated. Other parks include Coyaba River Garden and Cranbook Flower Forest.

Dunn's River Falls, the number one attraction in Jamaica and the Caribbean. Photo by Robert UlrichFeed ostriches or hop atop a camel for safari rides at Prospect Plantation. Highlights of this 18th-century estate include a horseback river ride where a trail passes through primeval forest descending into the White River. Stand on the verandas at the Great House and see Cuba on a clear day.

Hooves and Chukka Caribbean Adventures lead exciting horseback tours through hills and the Caribbean Sea.

See where Christopher Columbus first landed at historic Columbus Park, Jamaica’s only open-air museum containing historic artifacts, overlooking Discovery Bay.

For a slightly wild adventure, ride an inner tube down the gentle rapids of White River. A walking tour of Green Grotto Caves’ secret grottos reveals limestone formations, stalactites, stalagmites, and places that hid runaway slaves hid in the 18th-century. Destination Jamaica
